Start 2025 by Immersing Yourself in Digital Art at Palm Springs Art Museum!
Join Valerie Garza, a renowned digital artist, for an exciting hands-on workshop where traditional artistry meets cutting-edge digital tools.
In this workshop, you'll discover the fundamentals of digital drawing as you create a still-life digital painting of flowers in a vase. Draw inspiration from David Hockney's vibrant works, currently on display at the museum, as you experiment with color, form, and innovative technology.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner, this workshop will equip you with essential techniques to expand your creative practice. It's a perfect opportunity to explore new mediums and bring your artistic vision to life.
What You’ll Learn:
- Drawing & Design: Guided exercises led by Valerie Garza
- Hockney-Inspired Techniques: Explore his use of color, form, and digital innovation
- Digital Art Basics: Learn how to use tablets and computers to create personalized artwork
Materials Needed:
- A tablet or computer with drawing software (specific recommendations will be provided)
Workshop Times & Logistics:
- There are two workshop times: 10 am and 12 pm
- This event is 21+
- Each workshop is limited to 20 people
About the Teacher:
Valerie Garza is a multimedia artist based in Palm Springs, CA, celebrated for the bold shapes and vibrant colors of her greeting cards, which are sold through her stationery company, Coachella Valerie. With a lifetime of artistic experience, Valerie is passionate about sharing her love for both traditional and digital art forms.
David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, which originated in Honolulu Museum of Art, was curated by Catherine Whitney, director of curatorial affairs, and Katherine Love, assistant curator of contemporary art, in conjunction with the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation. The exhibition has been adapted for Palm Springs Art Museum by Christine Vendredi, chief curator, and Adam Lerner, JoAnn McGrath executive director/CEO.
