Join us every third Sunday of the month for Family+, a fun and free event for everyone! The museum is transformed into a creative hub where artists, makers, and musicians come together to offer a variety of exciting activities and workshops for kids, teens, and families+.
Celebrating African Americans and Labor
This month we will feature workshops based on the national 2025 Black History Month theme, African Americans and Labor.
Art Play with Onnissia
Join Onnissia for a hands-on workshop to create your own beaded jump ropes. Play is a pillar of Onnissia's artistic values, and the beaded jump rope is a symbol of community. Drawing from her childhood experience, where jump rope served as a powerful tool for connection and relationship-building, participants of this workshop will learn how to make their own beaded ropes. The workshop highlights the role of play in artistic expression and aims to evoke the joy that comes from play.
Vegetable Stamp Painting - Temalpahk Farms
Show how vegetables can be used to create colorful, fun works of art. Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts on the vegetable or fruit they chose, thus creating a discussion on the goodness of eating fruits and vegetables.
Painting with Allen Maldonado
Actor Allen Maldonado leads the MALDONADO ART workshop from the hit shows Black-ish, Heels, and Sneakerheads on Netflix and hit films such as The Equalizer, Straight Outta Compton, and House Party. This workshop will be a fusion of art, acting, painting, and meditation.
Kings Circle Boys
PSUSD Family & Community Engagement Center has teamed up with FAMILY + during Black History Month to host a workshop with our KINGS CIRCLE boys from Palm Springs High School. Kings Circle is an All-African American program that comes together to build character, thrive together and learn the importance of the culture.
