Alexander Girard: A Designer's Universe
Conversation "Pit Stops"
Listen and lounge in the famed Miller House sunken living room, a major feature in Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe, as we welcome various special guests during the exhibition’s run. These short talks will cover design related topics and draw inspiration from Girard’s work and collection displayed in the surrounding galleries.
Gallery talk with Jim Isermann
Meet at the Conversation Pit inside Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe for a walk-through with artist Jim Isermann, who will highlight Girard’s designs and inspirations, including the use of color and its influence throughout both of their careers.
Jim Isermann is a practicing artist based in Palm Springs, California. Since receiving a MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1980, his artistic output has chronicled the conflation of post-war industrial design and fine art through popular culture. From functional installations to discrete objects, Isermann has maintained an unflagging belief in the beauty of utilitarian design. His solo exhibition at the Architecture + Design Center, Jim Isermann: Copy. Pattern. Repeat., will open on January 25, 2020.
