In this three-part lecture series, Adam Lerner, Joann Mcgrath Executive Director/CEO, Palm Springs Art Museum, presents a wide survey of art from the mid-twentieth century to today.
Loosely organized around three central pillars in his interpretation of the field— humanism, sociology, and psychology—his talks examine how artists explore longstanding questions related to the human condition, investigate the norms and practices of our society, and find forms for expressing their inner life. Lerner looks back at key figures in the past and traces their legacies with younger artists today.
Designed for all audiences, these talks do not provide a linear history. They offer an idiosyncratic perspective on art and artists, which is ultimately Lerner’s way of sharing what he loves about the field.
The museum will be open with free admission to lecture attendees from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
