Outburst Projects are small-format exhibitions that artists create following a month-long artist-residency at the Palm Springs Art Museum. The program is designed to support creative exploration, allowing artists to experiment with new bodies of work.

Gabriela Ruiz, a self-taught artist, grew up in Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley to immigrant parents from Mexico.
Her practice embraces a Do-It-Yourself work ethic familiar to her from youth, one which expresses the vibrancy of Mexican cultural and artistic traditions. She employs everyday materials and blends a diverse range of mediums, using color, sound, and texture to create environments that allow a full immersion of the viewer in the worlds she creates. Her multimedia artistic practice is centered around issues of identity, the body, desire, and self-fashioning.
Palm Springs Art Museum continues 'Outburst Projects' with 5 residency artists.
Outburst Project: Karla Ekatherine Canseco, Maria Maea, Clara Nieblas, Ruben Ulises Rodriguez Montoya
This season’s exhibitions are sponsored by the Herman & Faye Sarkowsky Charitable Foundation and Yvonne & Steve (in memoriam) Maloney.
Special thanks to Graeme Flegenheimer, curatorial advisor for the project.
