Docent Training
Lecture Hall

If you’ve ever wanted to help open the eyes and mind of a child to the wonders of art, now is your chance. Intensive training for docents to conduct school tours for all age levels begins with a three-day orientation, October 8-10 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm, and continues twice each month on Monday mornings through April 2008. You will learn age-level appropriateness, discover how to make a tour happen using questions, and explore the Art Museum’s wonderful collections and much more. Spanish-speaking applicants are especially desired! Candidates should be outgoing, interested in art and anxious to learn new things.

Docent Reward Trip

With sufficient funding in place to provide transportation for any and all Coachella Valley school children to the Art Museum, things are jumping for the Docent Council. Every day busses pull up and let out dozens of children for two-hour Writing in the Museum and Eyes On Hands On tours and the Docents are happy to oblige!
As a reward for their hard work, an enrichment trip is planned to Disney Hall in Los Angeles for a Sunday afternoon philharmonic concert in March.

For more information, please call Education Coordinator Glenn Wilhite at 760.325.7186 x117.
